To complete visa stamping the immigration department requires following documents.
- Original passport
- Original Employment Visa(Entry Permit)

Normally the residence visa will be stamped in the Passport within 10 days and is valid for 2 years. 3 Years if the employer is a government entity or freezone visa.
Your residence visa will expire after 2 years or 3, depending on the employer and it could be renewed if both parties (employer & employee) agree to keep the Employer-Employee relationship. Your residence visa will also expire or be void if you reside outside of UAE for a period of 6 months or more and would need renewal in this case. In both the situations, the person who needs their visa renewed will, mandatorily, have to take another medical test and apply for a new Resident ID.
After the expiration of the employment visa, and individual is offered a grace period of 30 days. However, it is always advised that the process begins well in-time so that no fine is charged to the individual.
Expatriate residents, both employers and employees, may sponsor their families in the UAE provided they have a valid residency permit.
Residents of UAE, regardless of their nationality could sponsor their families (Spouse, Children, and/or Parents). Of course there are certain requirements to be fulfilled in order to sponsor any family member.
An individual who wishes to sponsor their immediate family member (Wife and/or children) must be under a profession that allows them to sponsor the family. There are certain professions that do not allow an individual to sponsor their family.
Required documents to sponsor wife and children include:
- Online application or through a registered typing office.
- Passport copies of the wife and children.
- Photos of the wife and children.
- Medical clearance certificate for the wife and children above 18.
- Copy of the husband’s employment contract or company contract.
- Salary certificate.
- Legalized marriage certificate.
- Registered tenancy contract.
- Latest utility bill.
Required documents to sponsor parents:
- Minimum salary not less than AED 20,000
- Medical insurance policy for both.
- Medical certificate from a government authorized center.
- Application form & 3 photos of parents
- Original passport of parent/s and sponsor
- Original entry permit
- Health card or medical insurance policy for parents
- Refundable deposit receipt.
- Original job contract or salary certificate of the sponsor

- Only head of the family can obtain maid’s visa with a minimum salary of AED 6000 or AED 5000 including accommodation.
- The maid age should not be less than 30 years.
- Maids can only be hired by families. Bachelors can’t sponsor them.
- Minimum Salary of the Maid should be AED 1,100.
- Medical Insurance for the maid.
